Phil Mickelson falls out of top 25 in world rankings for first time since 1995

For the first time in more than 20 years, Phil Mickelson has dropped out of the top 25 in the Official World Golf Rankings, which will become official after the completion of the Sanderson Farms Championship on Monday.

Mickelson, 45, who parted ways last week with swing coach Butch Harmon, is projected at No. 27, the lowest he has been since he was 26th in the summer of 1995 following a missed cut at the Kemper Open. A week later, Mickelson tied for fourth at the U.S. Open, moved up to 21st and had been a top-25 mainstay until Monday.

The 42-time PGA Tour winner and five-time major champion has never gotten to No. 1, but he has spent a record 270 weeks in the No. 2 spot.
